Not a Barbie Yogi

As a yogi and a yoga teacher, I have been met with all different sets of standards, noses aimed high and low. But I have got to tell you this, one of my favorite quotes in regards to being a studio owner and employer has got to be this; "I am not a Barbie yogi" 'and neither are my students', just acknowledging 'we are all normal people looking to heal together' and NOT compete with each other. You know everybody has strong suits and weaker parts. Yoga was never meant to be only for the 'elite' practitioners, yoga was meant to heal the weak and give strength to the weary.

This is why I love my job. I love to share, I love to heal, I love to give the feeling of growth to those who maybe haven't felt it in a long time. I personally don't need to do the best handstands or hold my crow for 10 minutes, I just need my students to get in touch with the basics and really feel movement there. In places they haven't in a while. Get those simple poses just right, and repeat them and than understand that yet still there lies growth in that which you do everyday. Because little differences always show themselves to create internal strength. I just want to reach their hearts, I just want them to feel loved and accepted for where they are.. That's the only way to promote true growth, is to really reach people, and meet them, right in there own laps, right where they are comfortable and make that point expandable.

So if you feel me, if you know what I mean.. If you understand your own hearts value, and see others greatest potential as simple and purely love. I'll meet you in the middle, on our mat's, with respect and regard for all you are and where you're at. We don't have to look too far ahead. Let's just be right here, in the moment, now. I love you, students and teachers alike, for where you are.
